Church of San Juan
Church of San Juan

The church of San Juan Bautista is the seat of the Parish of San Juan y San Pedro and is one of the oldest temples, dated in the second half of the fourteenth century.

This temple is the canonical seat of the Royal and Distinguished Congregation of the Holy Sepulchre and Servants of the Third Order of Our Lady of Sorrows, who performs his penitence station on Good Friday of Holy Week in Jaen and the Antigua Muy Ilustre and Royal Brotherhood of Our Lady of Carmen.

In its origins it had Gothic trace, suffering various transformations. The main façade is quite irregular, as it is not the original because it was demolished in a fire in the eighteenth century, and of which only a large pointed arch and a steeple in the left corner with remains of Elizabethan Gothic moldings.
